Release: Antam estimates ore reserves and mineral resources

Estimates decrease due to excavation and more detailed drilling

Jakarta, June 1, 2006 ? PT Antam Tbk is pleased to announce the results of its wholly-owned ore reserves and mineral resources estimations as at December 31, 2005. Antam?s estimates of its total mineral resources and ore reserves decreased in 2005.

This is due to extraction as well as more detailed drilling activities, which increased the accuracy of the estimates. Increasing the accuracy of the estimates can either increase or decrease the estimated volume of an ore deposit.

Unit Geomin, Antam?s exploration division, conducted exploration activities focused on nickel, gold and bauxite in Indonesia. The main objectives of the exploration activities were the discovery of new prospects or new resources and to improve the accuracy of reserve estimations through detailed exploration.

Total exploration expenditures, excluding joint ventures, decreased 12% to Rp55.1 billion. Of this amount, Antam spent Rp48.2 billion on nickel exploration, Rp4.5 billion for gold and Rp2.4 billion for bauxite.

Antam?s President Director D. Aditya Sumanagara, a mining engineer in exploration, who helped discover the Pongkor gold mine in the early 1990?s, said: ?More accurate reserve estimations allow us to develop and finance mining expansions, whether solely or with strategic partners, to grow and add value to our core business. We will continue to place great emphasis on our exploration activities, because a mining company is only as good as the quality and volume of its ore reserves.?

Mr. Trenggono Sutiyoso, a full time employee of Antam who fulfills the criteria of a Competent Person, prepares Antam?s Competent Person?s report on Antam?s reserves annually, in accordance with the Australasian Code for Reporting of Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves (the JORC Code). The report does not include inferred resources, reserve and resources estimations of joint ventures and early-stage exploration projects.

This table indicates all of Antam?s estimated mineral resources and ore reserves, except for inferred resources:

*Based on the Competent Person?s Report. Figures as per December 31, 2005 (Does not include inferred resources)

This table only indicates Antam?s ore reserves, which have been extracted from the table above. Ore reserves are economically mineable ore, and indicate production years remaining if Antam was to stop exploration work:

*Based on the Competent Person?s Report. Figures as per December 31, 2005 (Does not include inferred resources)
**This is estimation and is not meant to suggest with certainty the mine life of Antam?s operations, which may have a longer or shorter duration.
