NICKEL
Antam conducted nickel exploration in Buli, Halmahera, Southeast Sulawesi and Obi Island. Exploration in Buli included 6,834 meters of drilling at Pakal, Mornopo and Sangaji for total cost of Rp1.6 billion. To support exploration planning at Halmahera, Antam conducted analyses of the continuation of nickel laterite deposits with infill drilling, boulder distribution analysis (georadar research on several mining blocks) and Mornopo mine design preparation for a total cost of Rp38.6 million.
Antam continued exploration drilling in Southeast Sulawesi at Tapunopaka, Mandiodo and Bahubulu Island. At these locations, Antam conducted a total of 4,414 metres of drilling with a total cost of Rp910.7 million.
Antam completed grid measurements, topography, core samples and continued community development initiatives at Obi Island at a total cost of Rp123 million. Total cost for nickel exploration reached Rp2.7 billion.
GOLD
Antam focused exploration activities in Mranggu, East Java in cooperation with the Bandung Institute of Technology. Sample analysis is intended to detect other potential mineralizations.
In Arsejulu, North Sumatra, Antam conducted an evaluation for exploration activities, which already finished in May 2005. The result indicated no further exploration needed at that area. Total cost reached Rp0.4 million.
Antam conducted exploration activities at Baturappe, South Sulawesi and completed Regional Geology Mapping of 11,345 ha at total cost of Rp53 million. Meanwhile exploration activities at Mamuju, West Sulawesi completed Regional Geology Mapping of 8.950 ha at total cost of Rp36 million. Initial visit has been made at Patahtiga Mountain, Jambi to obtain preliminary data situation of the area.
Further exploration activities at Seblat, specifically Lebongkandis prospect, Bengkulu completed Regional Geology Mapping of 18,007 ha and Semi-Detailed Geology Mapping of 1,246 ha with total cost reached Rp97.5 million.
At Pongkor gold mine, Antam prepared drilling activities i.e. location preparation and drilling machine transportation to KKS-2 location. Total cost reached Rp160.8 million. Antam also conducted technical geological drilling at Pongkor costing Rp1.6 million.
Gold exploration, include preparation for two drilling locations at the Cileungsir prospect at Cikotok Banten also continued in cooperation with a third party. All costs occurred at the third party?s expense.
Initial visit also has been made to Mandailing, Natal specifically Tambang Hitam and Tarutung prospect to obtain preliminary data situation of the area.
Total cost of gold exploration reached Rp349.3 million.
BAUXITE
Antam continued bauxite exploration at Wacopek, Kijang including evaluation, especially sample analysis and final report. The total cost was Rp219.9 million.
Antam test pitting activities at Tayan used a 25m x 25m grid. Activities at Tayan included a grid measurement of 4.5 kilometers, polygon of 1.08 kilometers, test pitting of 879.7 meters and preparation analysis of 367 samples. The total cost for Tayan bauxite exploration activities amounted to Rp286.9 million.
Arrangement for new exploration has been made to seek new prospects at Riau Islands and West Kalimantan, outside Kijang and Tayan.
Total cost of bauxite exploration reached Rp506.8 million. (end of release)
