Exploration activities focused primarily on nickel, gold and bauxite.
Total exploration cost on August reached Rp6.4 billion, 36% lower than Rp10 billion spent on July 2006.
NICKEL EXPLORATION
Antam conducted nickel exploration at Buli, Gee Island and Obi Island of Halmahera, Central Sulawesi and Southeast Sulawesi.
Antam conducted nickel exploration at Buli, Halmahera, including 50 m and 25 m of spacing drilling at Pakal block and Sangaji, infill activities at Mornopo comprising preparation analysis and 25 m spacing drilling at Gee Island. Drilling pit activities reached 81 pits and 1,366.6 m depth followed by core description, core samples, 8,087 preparation samples, 80 km of grid measurement and 260 ha of topography. Total cost reached Rp633.3 million.
Antam also conducted nickel exploration at Southeast Sulawesi, specifically Pomalaa and Tapunopaka including 1,573.65 m drilling using 100 m and 25 m spacing drilling, 1,680 core samples, 1,662 sample preparations and 39.15 km of grid measurement. Antam also conducted lab analysis. Total cost reached Rp832.6 million.
Antam conducted nickel exploration at Obi Island specifically Kawasi block including 50 m spacing drilling activities reached 3,622.8 m, 3,920 core samples, 3,644.3 m core drilling description, sample preparations and analysis of 1,860 samples. Total cost reached Rp2.1 billion. Antam also conducted geotechnical activities, including geotechnical drilling at 305 m depth and 10 tones static cone penetration drilling at 25 spots to support dock design and mining infrastructure. Total cost of geotechnical activities reached Rp204 million. Exploration activities to identify nickel resources were conducted at Kolaka Utara and Konawe of Central Sulawesi including Regional
Geological Mapping of 18,000 ha, Semi Detailed Geological Mapping of 1,240 ha, 141 m test pit, 10 core samples, 141 m core drilling description followed by rock description, preparation and x-ray analysis. Antam indicated 3 prospect areas. Total cost reached Rp15.7 million. Exploration at Seram Island was conducted at cost of Rp152.1 million and Antam indicated 4 prospect areas.
Total cost for nickel exploration reached Rp3.9 billion.
GOLD EXPLORATION
Antam conducted gold exploration at Pongkor of West Java, Seblat of Bengkulu, Patah Tiga Mountain of Jambi, Tauro/ Toliwang of North Halmahera, Southeast Sulawesi and Mamuju of West Sulawesi.
Exploration activities at Pongkor included exploration drilling, core description and core 2 samples at Kubang Cicau and Ciguha vein below L.500. Drilling activities reached 816.3 m depth followed by 67 core samples, 0.5 km of drilling support measurement, 165 spots of IP measurement and 2,107 spots of magnet measurement at Nirmala. Antam indicated vein at L.300. Total cost reached Rp793.4 million.
Exploration activities at Papandayan Garut included drilling activities, core description, and core samples at Bantarhuni vein. Drilling activities reached 107.95 m followed by 107.95 m logging core and 3.2 km of track measurement. Total cost reached Rp1.1 billion.
Exploration activities at Seblat of Bengkulu conducted particularly at Lebong Kandis, Gunung Husein vein and Air Main including Detailed Geological Mapping of 8.5 ha, Semi Detailed Geological Mapping of 825.6 ha, 30 rock samples and FI, 357 m of drilling, 354 m logging core, 7 km track measurement, 34 ha topography, 180 spots magnet measurement and 12 spots of IP. Drilling activities indicated no significant samples. Total cost reached Rp312.2 million.
Antam conducted exploration at Muaramanderas of Jambi, including Regional Geological Mapping of 1,250 ha, Semi-Detailed Geological Mapping of 500 ha, Detailed Geological Mapping of 135 ha and 90 rock samples and FI and XRD. Total cost reached Rp32 million.
Antam conducted exploration at Mao Mamuju of West Sulawesi including Detailed Geological Mapping of 200 ha, rock samples, XRD, FI, petrography, 57 samples of mineragraphy, opening of 67 m3 and 6 km track measurement. Total cost reached Rp9.6 million.
Antam conducted gold exploration at Southeast Sulawesi and Buru Island, including Regional Geological Mapping of 36,900 ha, Semi-Detailed Geological Mapping of 300 ha, rock samples, 61 samples petrography and FI and 137 SS samples. Antam indicated 1 prospect area. Total cost reached Rp162.2 million.
Antam also conducted exploration activities at Tauro/ Toliwang and indicated vein at 2 prospect areas. Total cost reached Rp29.4 million.
Total cost for gold exploration reached Rp2.4 billion.
BAUXITE EXPLORATION
Bauxite exploration activities still focused at Tayan and Munggu Pasir of West Kalimantan and Riau Island. Exploration activities conducted at Tayan including grid measurement of 20.02 km, 1.9 ha of topography, pitting volume of 123 pits (980.5 m) followed by collecting 226 channel samples and 149 sample preparations. Total cost reached Rp51.3 million.
Antam conducted exploration at Munggu Pasir including 6.72 km of grid measurements, 1.1 ha of topography measurements, 50 m spacing test-pitting grid reached 76 pits (301.5 m), 145 samples and 145 sample preparations. Total cost reached Rp35 million.
Exploration activities at Bangka Belitung included 13 spots (36 m) of test pit activities and 14 samples. The activities indicated no potential deposit. Total cost reached Rp5.1 million.
Total cost for bauxite exploration reached Rp91.4 million. (end of release)
