Release: Antam monthly exploration report for August 2007

( Jakarta , 12 September 2007)--PT Antam, Tbk is pleased to lodge the August Exploration Report in accordance with the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) listing rules. Antam’s exploration activities focused primarily on nickel, gold, and bauxite.

 

Total exploration cost on August 2007 amounted to Rp17.5 billion (preliminary figures).

 

NICKEL EXPLORATION

Antam conducted nickel exploration at Halmahera Islands , Central Sulawesi and Southeast Sulawesi . Antam conducted nickel exploration at Buli of Halmahera including Sangaji area with 25 m, 50 m, 100 m and 200 m spacing drilling, topography measurement, drilling grid, preparation and analysis.

 

Nickel exploration at Obi island included 50 m spacing, topography measurement, drilling grid, test pit, preparation and analysis activities. Exploration at Halmahera focused on increasing resources classification.

 

Nickel exploration at Bulutalowa-Tangofa of Central Sulawesi included Semi Detailed Geological Mapping (SDGM), 200 m spacing drilling, preparation and analysis, while exploration activities at Witaponda and Bungku Tengah included SDGM, 400 m spacing drilling, GPR geophysics, preparation and analysis.

 

At Baunaga of Southeast Sulawesi, Antam conducted Regional Geological Mapping (RGM), SDGM, test pit, GPR geophysics, preparation and analysis. Exploration activities at Tapunopaka included 25 m spacing drilling, topography measurement, drilling grid, preparation and analysis.

 

Total nickel exploration cost reached Rp14.1 billion.

 

GOLD EXPLORATION

Antam conducted gold exploration at Pongkor and Papandayan-Garut of West Java, Gembes of East Java, Batangasai of Jambi, Konawe of Southeast Sulawesi and Mao Mamuju of West Sulawesi .

 

Exploration activities at Pongkor included drilling, logging, sampling, analysis and magnetic geophysics focusing on detailed drilling activities at Kubang Cicau. Exploration activities at Papandayan - Garut, included Detailed Geological Mapping (DGM), opening, drilling, logging core, sampling and magnetic geophysics. At Kencana prospect, Antam indicated 180 m length of tension between 2 structures at vein area.

 

Antam conducted exploration at Gembes of East Java included SDGM, DGM, opening, rock samples, XRD, Fi and mineragraphy.

 

At Batangasai of Jambi, exploration focused on SDGM, DGM, magnetic geophysics, rock samples, soil, XRD, Fi and mineragraphy.

 

Antam conducted SDGM, DGM, opening and rock samples at Konawe of Southeast Sulawesi. Antam indicated epythermal mineralization at hosted sediment. At Mao Mamuju of West Sulawesi , Antam conducted RGM, SDGM, DGM, opening, rock sample and magnetic geophysics.

 

Total gold exploration cost reached Rp2.7 billion.

 

BAUXITE EXPLORATION

Antam conducted bauxite exploration at Tayan, Munggu Pasir, Mempawah and Landak of West Kalimantan.

 

Exploration activities at Tayan and Munggu Pasir of West Kalimantan included grid measurement, test pit, samples and preparation.

 

Exploration activities at Mempawah and Landak of West Kalimantan included SDGM, 50 m and 400 m test pit, sampling, preparation, grid measurement and topography.

 

Total bauxite exploration cost reached Rp749 million. (end of release)
