Antam?s exploration activities focused primarily on nickel, gold and bauxite.
Total exploration cost on February 2008 amounted to Rp9.2 billion (preliminary figures).
NICKEL EXPLORATION
Antam conducted nickel exploration at Buli and Obi Island of Halmahera, Central Sulawesi and Southeast Sulawesi.
Antam conducted nickel exploration at Bull of Halmahera specifically Sangaji area, Pakal, Tanjung Buli, Blok A and P4P5 with 200 m, 100 m and 50 m spacing drilling. Other activities were topography, drilling measurement, core drilling description, core drilling samples and preparation. Nickel exploration at Obi island included 25 m and 50 m logging core and core spacing samples, mining pole setup, topography, track and drilling spot measurement and preparation.
Exploration activities at Buleleng of Central Sulawesi included grid and drilling measurement, 50 m core description and 50 m samples and preparation.
Antam conducted logging core, sampling, 25 m spacing drilling and preparation at Tapunopaka of Southeast Sulawesi, while at Baunaga, Pandua and Lalindu focused on Detailed Geological Mapping (DGM), Semi-Detailed Geological Mapping (SDGM), logging core, core samples, track and drilling spot measurement, topography, 100 m spacing drilling and sample preparation.
Total nickel exploration cost reached Rp6.1 billion.
GOLD EXPLORATION
Antam conducted gold exploration at Pongkor and Papandayan-Garut of West Java, Gembes of East Java, Batangasai of iambi and Mao Mamuju of West Sulawesi.
Exploration activities at Pongkor included DGM, logging core, hand auger, samples including rock, core, soil, Fi, petro / mineragraphy, XRD, track measurement and drilling. Antam also conducted exploration activities at Papandayan - Garut, included DGM, opening, logging core, track measurement, IP geophysics, magnetic geophysics and drilling.
Antam conducted exploration at Gembes of East Java included DGM, opening, logging and core sampling, rock sampling, XRD, Fi and petro / mineragraphy.
At Batangasai of Jambi, exploration focused on DGM, opening, hand auger, core drilling samples including core drilling, soil, XRD and rock, drilling, opening and measurement.
At Mao Mamuju of West Sulawesi, Antam continued to conduct analysis.
Total gold exploration cost reached Rp2.5 billion.
BAUXITE EXPLORATION
Antam conducted bauxite exploration at Mempawah, Landak and Munggu Pasir of West Kalimantan.
Exploration activities at Mempawah and Landak included 50 m grid measurement, polygon measurement, topography measurement, test pitting, samples, preparation and analysis.
Antam conducted test pitting, samples and preparation at Munggu Pasir.
Total bauxite exploration cost reached Rp615.3 million. (end of release)
