Antam?s exploration activities focused on nickel, gold and bauxite. Total exploration cost on above commodities in February 2010 amounted to Rp7.3 billion (preliminary figures).
NICKEL
Antam conducted nickel exploration at North Maluku and Southeast Sulawesi.
Antam conducted logging core, grid and georadar track measurements, drilling and collected core samples at Buli-North Maluku.
Exploration activities in Southeast Sulawesi included drilling, logging core, core sampling, mapping and grid measurement at Mandiodo and Lasolo.
Total nickel exploration cost reached Rp2.6 billion.
GOLD
Antam conducted gold exploration at Batangasai-Jambi, Pongkor and Papandayan-West Java, Cibaliung-Banten, Wawonii-Southeast Sulawesi and Mao Batuisi-West Sulawesi.
Exploration activities at Batangasai-Jambi included Detailed Geological Mapping (DGM), opening, collected samples of soil, rocks, petro/mineragraphy, XRD and FI, conducted outcropping, drilled logging and IP geophysics.
Exploration activities at Java Island were conducted at several areas. At Pongkor-West Java, Antam performed logging core, collected samples of core, rock, petrography/ mineragraphy, Fi and XRD, drilling, drilling track and geophysics measurements, conducted CSMAT geophysics and IP, sterilized drilling recommendation, XRD and petro/ mineragraphy analysis, geological evaluation and modelling. At Papandayan-West Java, Antam conducted DGM, opening, drilling, logging core, collected samples of rocks and core, outcropping, conducted geophysic track and polygon measurement and IP geophysics. At Cibaliung-Banten, Antam conducted trenching, surface and core sampling, logging core and drilling.
At Wawonii?Southeast Sulawesi, Antam conducted exploration activities including DGM, opening, rock and core sampling, drilling, logging core, accumulation, planting and track measurement.
Antam conducted DGM, opening, collected rock and core samples, drilling, logging core, IP geophysics and track measurement at Mao Batuisi - West Sulawesi.
Total gold exploration cost reached Rp3.8 billion.
BAUXITE
Antam conducted bauxite exploration at Mempawah, Landak, Tayan and Munggu Pasir of West Kalimantan.
Exploration activities at Mempawah included license boundary measurement, sample preparations, permit arrangement and mining preparation while at Landak included permit arrangement, collected samples at trial drilling hole and exploration preparation at new area.
Antam conducted grid measurement, test pitting and sampling at Tayan while at Munggu Pasir, Antam conducted grid! polygon measurement, test pitting and sampling.
Total bauxite exploration cost reached Rp931.7 million. (end of release)
