Release: Antam monthly exploration report for Jan. 2009

(Jakarta, 12 February 2009)--PT Antam Tbk is pleased to lodge the January Exploration Report in accordance with the Indonesia Stock Exchange listing rules.

Antam?s exploration activities focused primarily on nickel, gold, bauxite and coal.

Total exploration cost on January 2009 amounted to Rp1.96 billion (preliminary figures).

NICKEL EXPLORATION
Antam only conducted care and maintenance activities at Buli and Obi of North Moluccas in January. Meanwhile, at Tapunopaka and Mandiodo, Antam conducted preparations to start nickel exploration.

Total nickel exploration cost reached Rp399.5 million.

GOLD EXPLORATION
Antam conducted gold exploration at Pongkor and Papandayan of West Java, Batangasai of Jambi and Wowoni and Kolono of Southeast Sulawesi.

Exploration activities at Pongkor and Papandayan included, among others, Detailed Geological Mapping, core logging, core sampling and drilling.

At Batangasai of Jambi, exploration focused on DGM, hand auger, opening, soil sampling, core sampling, petrography/mineragraphy and track measurement.

At Wowoni and Kolono of Southeast Sulawesi, Antam conducted rock sampling, petrography/mineragraphy and geophysics IP. Total gold exploration cost reached Rp1.3 billion.

BAUXITE EXPLORATION
Antam conducted bauxite exploration at Mempawah, Landak and Tayan of West Kalimantan.

Exploration activities at Mempawah and Landak included 50 m grid measurement and test pitting. At Tayan, Antam conducted preparation to start exploration.

Total bauxite exploration cost reached Rp206.3 million.

COAL EXPLORATION
Antam conducted semi detailed geological mapping at Muara Tebo, Jambi and Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan. Antam also conducted core logging and coal sampling at Kutal Kartanegara.

Antam spent Rp43.7 million for coal exploration in January 2009. (end of release)
