Exploration activities focused primarily on nickel, gold, and bauxite. Total exploration cost in January 2007 reached Rp 2.2 billion.
NIKEL EXPLORATION
Antam conducted nickel exploration at Buli and Obi Island Halmahera, Maluku, Central Sulawesi and Southeast Sulawesi
Antam conducted nickel exploration at Sangaji block Buli-Halmahera with 50 m spacing drilling, 142 drilling pits with total depth of 2,518.5 m. At Tanjung Buli, Antam conducted 25 m drilling on 61 drilling pits with total depth of 1,235 m. Antam also conducted 220 ha topography measurement, 60 ha grid, 3,756.5 m logging and took 3,688 samples. Total cost reached Rp 355.2 million.
Antam conducted technical geological drilling at Pakal with a cost of Rp 112.7 million. Antam also conducted 5,500 ha regional geological mapping, 1,500 ha semi-detailed geological mapping, 36 m test pit at 10 locations, 72 samples and 54 preparation samples at Patani, Central Halmahera.
Antam conducted lab analysis at Konawe of Southeast Sulawesi at a cost of Rp3.7 million. Antam also conducted preparation and sample analysis at Pomalaa at cost of Rp 63.7 million while at Lasolo, Antam continued lab analysis at a cost of Rp 1.9 million.
Nickel exploration at Obi island included 50 m spacing drilling with 5,054.5 m depth, 5,183 core samples, 5,182.3 m core drilling and 2,739 preparation samples. There was an indication of laterites at the Kawasi region. Total exploration cost at the area amounted to Rp 144.9 million.
Nickel exploration at Central Sulawesi included Wosu, Tangofa, Langkawe, Banggai and Bulutaloa regions.
In the Wosu region, Antam conducted regional geological mapping of 18,085 ha, semi detailed geological mapping of 8,211 ha, core drilling samples of 75 samples, auger drilling and core drilling description of 75 m and 75 preparation samples with a cost of Rp 1.4 million. There was indication of laterites within an area of 3,490 ha.
Exploration activities at Tangofa included 500 m spacing drilling, 41.13 m core drilling description, 47 samples core drilling and 47 preparation samples. Total cost amounted to Rp 9.1 million. There was indication of laterites within an area of 2,675 ha.
Antam conducted 3,525 ha regional geological mapping. 1,220 ha semi-detailed geological mapping, 54 samples of core drilling, 513 m auger drilling, 51.3 m core drilling samples and 136 preparation samples at Langkawe.
Activities at Banggai included regional geological mapping of 5,962 ha, semi detailed geological mapping of 4,600 ha, 15 m test pit, 15 core samples, 15 core drilling description and 15 preparation samples.
Exploration activities at Bulutaloa included 4,000 ha regional geological mapping, 400 m spacing drilling with total depth 224.1 m at 21 locations, 224.1 m core drilling description, 230 rock samples, 280 preparation samples and 22 km grid measurement at a cost of Rp 0.6 million. There was indication of laterites within 3,000 ha.
Antam continued analysis on samples taken from Seram Island - Maluku with a cost of Rp 17.8 million.
Total cost for nickel exploration amounted to Rp 711 million,
GOLD EXPLORATION
Antam conducted gold exploration at Pongkor and Garut of West Java, Seblat of Bengkulu, Patah Tiga Mountain of Jambi, Buru Island of Maluku, West Sulawesi and Southeast Sulawesi.
Exploration activities at Pongkor included core drilling, core description and core samples at Ciurung vein below level 500. Drilling activities reached 571.7 m depth followed by 32 core samples, 571.7 m of logging core and 1.45 km of measurement. Total cost reached Rp 161 .5 million.
Antam indicated quartz vein at 390 m elevation, 3.5 m width and 0.32 ppm Au of grade. There was also indication of quartz vein at 260 m elevation, 3.8 m width and 0.6 ppm Au of grade. Antam also conducted geotechnical activities at Ciguha for mine development below 500 elevation including 75.95 m drilling activities at a cost of Rp 1.2 billion.
Exploration activities at Papandayan of Garut included 30 ha detailed geological mapping, 609.55 m of drilling and logging core and 14 core samples at a cost of Rp 68 million.
Gold exploration at Seblat of Bengkulu focused on Gunung Husein and Air Kuro veins. Activities included 16.5 ha detail geological mapping, opening of 198 m, 50 rock samples and Fi / XRD of 21 samples, 485 m drilling and logging core and 11 km track measurement. Antam indicated 3 quartz veins of 2,250 m, 1-6 m width and 0.4-2 ppm Au. There were also indications of 3 quartz veins with 0.15-0.5 m width. Total cost reached Rp 12.6 million.
Antam conducted exploration at Muaramanderas of Jambi including 650 ha semi-detailed geological mapping, 115 ha detail geological mapping. 58 rock samples, 120 soil samples, 73 Fi /XRD/ PET samples, opening of 110 m, 180 m auger drilling, 3,920 spots of magnetic geophysical measurement and 7 km track measurement. Antam indicated 400 m quartz vein with 2-3 m width. Antam still conducted lab analysis. Total cost reached Rp 15.8 million.
Antam continued analysis at Mao Mamuju of West Sulawesi at a cost of Rp 2 million.
Total cost for gold exploration reached Rp 1.4 billion.
BAUXITE EXPLORATION
Antam conducted bauxite exploration at Tayan and Munggu Pasir of West Kalimantan.
Exploration activities at Tayan of West Kahmantan included 25 m spacing of test pit with 7.7 km of grid measurement volume, 6.9 ha of topography, 389 pits (2,544.7 m) of test pitting followed by 702 channel samples and 746 preparation samples. Total cost reached Rp 40.4 million.
Antam conducted exploration at Munggu Pasir including 6.7 km of grid measurement, 50 m spacing of test pitting reached 232 pits (798.70 m), 184 samples and 161 preparation samples. Total cost reached Rp 44 million.
Total cost for bauxite exploration reached Rp 84.4 million. (end of release)
