Release: Antam monthly exploration report for May 2007

Jakarta, 12 June 2007 -- PT Antam, Tbk is pleased to lodge the May Exploration Report in accordance with the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) listing rules.

 

Exploration activities focused primarily on nickel, gold, and bauxite. Total exploration cost in May 2007 amounted to Rp4.3 billion.

 

NICKEL EXPLORATION

Antam conducted nickel exploration at Buli and Obi Island of Halmahera, Central Sulawesi and Southeast Sulawesi.

 

Antam conducted nickel exploration at Bull of Halmahera including Sangaji and Tanjung Buli area with 25 m, 50 in, 200 m and 400 m spacing drilling As well, Antam conducted 200 ha topography measurement 47 km grid measurement and lab preparation and analysis at Buli. Antam also conducted regional geological mapping at Wayamli region to seek nickel potential at the area.

 

Nickel exploration at Obi island included 50 m spacing drilling at North Kawasi, 90 ha topography measurement and 43.7 km of grid and core drilling measurements, as well as lab preparation and analysis.

 

Exploration activities at Bungku, Central Sulawesi included 38,292 ha of regional geological mapping and 6,208 ha of semi detailed geological mapping. Antam also conducted 500 m spacing test drilling and sampling, lab preparation and geophysics analysis at the area. Nickel exploration at Wosu and Lawangke included regional geological mapping and semi detailed geological mapping. Antam also conducted 500 m spacing drilling and hand auger and lab preparation and analysis. Antam conducted similar activities at Banggai, which also included petrography analysis.

 

Nickel exploration at Baunaga, Southeast Sulawesi, included 2,900 ha of regional geological mapping and 1,750 ha of semi detailed geological mapping. Antam also conducted 500 m spacing drilling and hand auger and lab preparation and analysis.

 

Exploration activities at Bulutalowa included 1,000 ha of semi detailed geological mapping, 200 in spacing drilling and lab preparation and analysis. At Tapunopaka, Antam conducted 25 m spacing drilling and lab preparation and analysis.

 

GOLD EXPLORATION

Antam conducted gold exploration at Pongkor, Tikukur and Garut of West Java, Gembes Mountain and Liman Mountain of East Java, Seblat of Bengkulu, Batangasai of Jambi, Konawe of Southeast Sulawesi, Mao Mamuju of West Sulawesi, and Laut Tawar of Aceh.

 

Exploration activities at Pongkor included core drilling, core logging, core sampling and analysis at Kubang Cicau below level 500. Antam also conducted geophysics data analysis at Cisarua area.

 

Exploration activities at Papandayan, Garut, included 124.25 ha of detailed geological mapping, openings. 175 m of drilling and core logging, and 61 core sampling.

 

Antam conducted 20 ha detailed geological mapping and 19 rock sampling at Tikukur, Subang region. Activities at Gembes Mountain and Liman Mountain of East Java focused on completion of permits.

 

Antam continued to conduct detailed exploration activities at Noar, Lalangi, and Air Telatang gold prospects at Seblat, Bengkulu. Activities at these prospects included 639 ha of semi detailed and 415 ha of detailed geological mapping, 225 m3 openings, and 47 rock sampling.

 

Antam conducted exploration at Batangasai of Jambi which included 153 ha of semi detailed and 284 ha of detailed geological mapping, magnetic geophysics activities, rock and soil sampling, FI sampling, XRD sampling, and petrography/ mineragraphy activities.

 

Antam conducted 602 ha of semi detailed and 301 ha of detailed geological mapping analysis at Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi. At this area, Antam also conducted 514 m3 of openings and took 348 rock samples. At Mao Mamuju, on top of 89 m3 openings and 93 rock samples, Antam also conducted 10,900 ha of regional geological mapping.

 

At Laut Tawar, Aceh, Antam began regional geological mapping and rock sampling.

 

BAUXITE EXPLORATION

Antam conducted bauxite exploration at Tayan, Mempawah-Landak, and Munggu Pasir of West Kalimantan.

 

Exploration activities at Tayan and Munggu Pasir of West Kalimantan included 181 spots of test pitting, took 106 samples, lab preparation, analysis and grid measurement.

 

Exploration activities at Mempawah and Landak of West Kalimantan included 800 ha of semi detailed geological mapping, test pitting, sampling, and lab preparation and analysis. (end of release)
