Antam?s exploration activities focused primarily on nickel, gold and bauxite.
Total exploration cost reported by Geomin Unit on May 2008 amounted to Rp143 billion (preliminary figures).
NICKEL EXPLORATION
Antam conducted nickel exploration at Buli and Obi Island of Halmahera and Southeast Sulawesi.
Antam conducted nickel exploration at Buli of Halmahera specifically Sangaji, Pakal, Tanjung Buli, A Block, P4 P5 and P6 P7 using 25 m, 50 m, 100 m and 200 m drilling space. Other activities were spot and drilling measurement, core drilling description, core drilling samples and preparation. Antam also conducted topography at Sangaji. Nickel exploration at Obi island included 25 m and 50 m logging core and core spacing samples, topography, spot and track measurement, 25 m and 50 m drilling space, preparation and concrete poles construction.
Antam conducted logging core, core sampling, 25 m and 50 m drilling space, spot and track measurement, preparation and analysis activities at Tapunopaka of Southeast Sulawesi, while at Baunaga, Pandua and Lalindu focused on logging core, core sampling, track measurement and drilling spots, 100 m drilling space, georadar and topography measurement.
Total nickel exploration cost reached Rp6 billion.
GOLD EXPLORATION
Antam conducted gold exploration at Pongkor and Papandayan-Garut of West Java, Gembes of East Java, Batangasai of Jambi, MaoBatuisi and Karosa of West Sulawesi and Sumbawa.
Exploration activities at Pongkor included Detail Geological Mapping (DGM), logging core, samples including rock, core, soil, Fi, XRD and petro / mineragraphy, track measurement, drilling and lP geophysics activities. Antam also conducted exploration activities at Papandayan-Garut, included Semi Detail Geological Mapping (SDGM), opening, logging core, rock and core samples and drilling.
Antam conducted exploration at Gembes of East Java included DGM, opening, logging core, drilling, magnet geophysics, track measurement and samples of core, rock, XRD, Fi and petro / mineragraphy.
At Batangasai of Jambi, exploration focused on DGM, opening, logging core, drilling, IP geophysics, track measurement and samples of soil, rock, XRD, Fi and petro / mineragraphy.
At Mao Batuisi and Karosa of West Sulawesi, Antam conducted Regional Geological Mapping (RGM), SDGM and samples of rock, soil, petrography and XRD.
At Sumbawa, Antam conducted RGM and samples of rock, Fi and petrography / mineragraphy.
Total gold exploration cost reached Rp6.8 billion.
BAUXITE EXPLORATION
Antam conducted bauxite exploration at Mempawah, Landak and Munggu Pasir of West Kalimantan.
Exploration activities at Mempawah and Landak included 50 m grid measurement, polygon and topography measurement, test pitting, samples and preparation.
Antam conducted topography measurement, test pitting, samples and preparation at Munggu Pasir.
Total bauxite exploration cost reached Rp1 .7 billion. (end of release)
