Antam?s exploration activities focused primarily on nickel, gold, and bauxite.
Total exploration cost on November 2007 amounted to Rp12.6 billion (preliminary figures).
NICKEL EXPLORATION
Antam conducted nickel exploration at Bull and Obi Island of Halmahera, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and East Nusa Tenggara.
Antam conducted nickel exploration at Bull of Halmahera including Sangaji area with 25 m, 50 m and 100 m spacing drilling while at P1 P8 area with 50 m spacing drilling. Other activities were description, sampling, topography measurement, grid, preparation and analysis. Nickel exploration at Obi island included 50 m, 25 m and 12.5 m spacing drilling, Detailed Geological Mapping (DGM), topography measurement, grid, drilling spot, test pit, preparation and analysis activities.
Nickel exploration at Bulutalowa - Tangofa of Central Sulawesi included 100 m spacing drilling, grid measurement, drilling spot, preparation and analysis, while exploration activities at Witaponda and Bungku Tengah included drilling activities, description, sampling, preparation, analysis and georadar.
At Tapunopaka and Mandiodo of Southeast Sulawesi, Antam conducted test pit, description, samples and analysis.
Antam conducted nickel exploration at Atambua of East Nusa Tenggara included Regional Geological Mapping (RGM), Semi Detailed Geological Mapping (SDGM), laterite samples and rock samples.
Total nickel exploration cost reached Rp 10 billion.
GOLD EXPLORATION
Antam conducted gold exploration at Pongkor and Papandayan-Garut of West Java, Gembes of East Java, Batangasai of iambi and Mao Mamuju of West Sulawesi.
Exploration activities at Pongkor included drilling, logging, sampling and analysis. Exploration activities at Papandayan - Garut, included DGM, opening and sampling.
Antam conducted exploration at Gembes of East Java included SDGM, DGM, opening, rock samples, XRD, Fi, mineragraphy, track measurement and magnetic measurement.
At Batangasai of Jambi, exploration focused on SDGM, DGM, drilling, description, core samples, magnetic geophysics, IP, rock samples, soil, XRD, Fi and mineragraphy.
At Mao Mamuju of West Sulawesi, Antam conducted RGM, SDGM, DGM, opening, rock sample and magnetic geophysics.
Total gold exploration cost reached Rp2.3 billion.
BAUXITE EXPLORATION
Antam conducted bauxite exploration at Tayan, Munggu Pasir, Mempawah and Landak of West Kalimantan.
Exploration activities at Tayan and Munggu Pasir of West Kalimantan included grid measurement, test pit, samples and preparation.
