Antam?s exploration activities were focused on nickel, gold, bauxite and coal.
Antam spent Rp13.3 billion for exploration activities in November 2008. This figure is preliminary and subject to change.
NICKEL EXPLORATION
Antam conducted nickel exploration in Halmahera and South East Sulawesi.
Nickel exploration activities at Halmahera were conducted in the Buli and Gee Island regions. In Buli, Antam conducted grid measurement and topography, 25m spacing drilling and 12.5m spacing infilled drilling. Antam conducted topography and track measurement in Gee. As well, Antam conducted 25m spacing drilling to obtain continuity modeling at each mining blocks.
Antam conducted nickel exploration activities in Tapunopaka, Mandiodo, Baunaga and Lalindu regions in South East Sulawesi. Antam conducted core logging and sampling in Tapunopaka. Antam also conducted 50m spacing drilling, track measurement and core drilling at Tapunopaka. Exploration activities in Mandiodo were intended to increase the resource classification with 25 m x 25 m spacing drilling. As well, Antam conducted nickel beneficiation process in Tapunopaka. Antam conducted semi detailed mapping, georadar measurement and topography mapping in Baunaga and Lalindu.
Total nickel exploration amounted to Rp6.9 billion.
GOLD EXPLORATION
Antam conducted gold exploration in West Java, Central Java, Jambi, West Sulawesi and South East Sulawesi.
Exploration activities in West Java included detailed geological mapping, core and sampling logging as well as drilling. Antam conducted Semi Detailed Geological Mapping, opening, rock sampling, Fi, petrography and XRD mapping in Central Java.
Antam conducted Detailed Geological Mapping, soil and rock sampling, Fi and XRD measurement in South East Sulawesi. In West Sulawesi, Antam conducted Detailed Geological Mapping, Semi Detailed Geological Mapping, rock sampling, IP geophysics and magnetic geophysics measurement in West Sulawesi.
Antam conducted Detailed Geological Mapping, Semi Detailed Geological Mapping, magnetic geophysics measurement and track measurement in Jambi.
Antam spent Rp3.5 billion for gold exploration.
BAUXITE EXPLORATION
Antam conducted bauxite exploration in Mempawah, Landak, Munggupasir, Tayan, and Pantas.
Bauxite exploration activities included, among others, grid measurement, topography measurement and test pitting.
Total bauxite exploration cost amounted to Rp1.7 billion.
COAL EXPLORATION
Coal exploration activities in November 2008 were conducted in Jambi and Papua. Coal exploration activities, among others, included Semi Detailed Geological Mapping, Regional Geological Mapping, track measurement and test pitting.
Total coal exploration cost amounted to Rp1.2 billion. (end of release)
