Exploration activities focused primarily on nickel, gold and bauxite.
Total exploration cost on September reached Rp9.2 billion, 44% higher than Rp6.4 billion spent on August 2006.
NICKEL EXPLORATION
Antam conducted nickel exploration at Buli, Gee Island and Obi Island of Halmahera, Seram Island of Maluku and Southeast Sulawesi. Antam conducted nickel exploration at Buli, Halmahera, including 50 m of spacing drilling at Sangaji block and 94 drilling pits reached 1,750 m depth. At Mornopo, nickel exploration including 25 m of spacing drilling and 6 drilling pits reached 89 m. Infill activities at Mornopo and Gee Island comprising preparation analysis, 200 ha of topography, 60 ha of grid, 1,839.8 m of logging and 1,875 m of samples. Total cost reached Rp3.4 billion.
Antam also conducted nickel exploration at Southeast Sulawesi, specifically Pomalaa and Tapunopaka including 1,815.65 m drilling using 100 m of spacing drilling, 1,620 core samples, 1,582 sample preparations, lab analysis of 1,541 samples and 23.32 km of grid measurement. Total cost reached Rp803.6 million. Exploration activities to identify nickel resources were conducted at Kolaka Utara and Konawe at cost of Rp53.3 million.
Sample analysis was conducted at Seram Island at cost of Rp6.7 million.
Antam conducted nickel exploration at Obi Island specifically Kawasi block including 50 m spacing drilling activities reached 5,110 m, 5,317 core samples, 4,947.1 m core drilling description, sample preparations, analysis of 1,950 samples, grid measurement and drilling hole of 25.7 km. Total cost reached Rp1.9 billion.
Total cost for nickel exploration reached Rp6.2 billion.
GOLD EXPLORATION
Antam conducted gold exploration at Pongkor and Garut of West Java, Seblat of Bengkulu, Patah Tiga Mountain of Jambi, Buru Island of Maluku, Southeast Sulawesi and Mamuju of West Sulawesi.
Exploration activities at Pongkor included core drilling, core description and core samples at Kubang Cicau and Ciguha vein below L.500. Drilling activities reached 1,000 m depth followed by 150 core samples. Antam indicated 1.3 m wide with grade of 9.3 gpt of Au at Ciguha vein, while Antam also indicated 1.9 m wide with grade of 2.9 gpt of Au at Kubang Cicau vein. Total cost reached Rp573.3 million.
Exploration activities at Papandayan of Garut included 20 ha of geological mapping, drilling activities, 553.87 m of logging core and 52 samples of core description at Bantarhuni vein.
Antam indicated 294.10 ? 297.33 m wide with grade 0.11 ? 1.8 gpt of Au, 3.7 ? 7 % of Pb and 7.9 ? 29 % of Zn at Utara Bantarhuni vein. Antam also indicated grade of 5.6 gpt of Au at HW vein. Total cost reached Rp849 million.
Exploration activities at Seblat of Bengkulu conducted particularly at Lebong Kandis, Gunung Husein vein and Air Main including Semi Detailed Geological Mapping of 416 ha, opening of 144.37 m, 71 rock samples and Fi, 45.05 m of drilling, 48.05 m of logging core, 0.75 km of track measurement, 44 ha topography, 1,686 spots of magnet measurement and 376 spots of IP. Drilling activities indicated no significant samples. Total cost reached Rp684.4 million.
Antam conducted exploration at Muaramanderas of Jambi, including Regional Geological Mapping of 875 ha, Semi-Detailed Geological Mapping of 475 ha, Detailed Geological Mapping of 160 ha, 63 rock samples and opening of 265 m3. Total cost reached Rp151.1 million.
Antam conducted exploration at Mao Mamuju of West Sulawesi including Semi-Detailed Geological Mapping of 2,154 ha, Detail Geological Mapping of 175 ha, rock samples, XRD, FI, petrography, 207 samples of mineragraphy, opening of 202 m3 and 7.2 km track measurement. Total cost reached Rp86.7 million.
Antam conducted gold exploration at Southeast Sulawesi and Buru Island, including lab analysis at Konawe and Regional Geological Mapping of 23,000 ha, Semi-Detailed Geological Mapping of 350 ha, opening of 25m3, 89 SS samples, rock samples and 88 petrography samples at Wowonii Island.
Antam conducted exploration at Buru Island including 101 stream sediment samples, rock samples and 63 fluid inclusion samples. Total cost reached Rp97.4 million.
Antam conducted exploration including lab analysis at Tauro-Toliwang and Bulado Gorontalo.
Total cost reached Rp51.7 million. Total cost for gold exploration reached Rp2.5 billion.
BAUXITE EXPLORATION
Bauxite exploration activities still focused at Tayan and Munggu Pasir of West Kalimantan and Riau Islands.
Exploration activities using 25 m spacing were conducted at Tayan including grid measurement of 1.57 km, 1 ha of topography, pitting volume of 179 pits (1,333.5 m) followed by collecting 539 channel samples and 439 sample preparations. Total cost reached Rp256.2 million.
Antam conducted exploration at Munggu Pasir including 22.95 km of grid measurements, 7.9 ha of topography measurements, 50 m spacing test-pitting grid reached 174 pits (679.2 m), 267 samples and 177 sample preparations. Total cost reached Rp260 million.
Exploration activities at Bangka Belitung and Riau Island continued including lab analysis. The activities still indicated no potential deposit.
Total cost for bauxite exploration reached Rp516.2 million. (end of release)
