Release: Antam monthly exploration report - June 2005

Jakarta, July 12, 2005 ? PT Antam Tbk is pleased to lodge the monthly exploration report for June 2005 in accordance with the Jakarta Stock Exchange listing rules. Exploration activities remained focused on Antam?s main commodities of nickel laterite, gold and bauxite. The total cost for exploration in June 2005 reached Rp6.5 billion.
NICKEL
Antam conducted nickel exploration in Buli, Halmahera; Southeast Sulawesi and Obi Island. Exploration in Buli included 5,499 meters of drilling at Pakal, Mornopo and Sangaji with a total cost of Rp2.90 billion. To support exploration planning at Halmahera, Antam conducted analyses of the continuation of nickel laterite deposits by infill drilling, boulder distribution analysis (georadar research on several mining blocks) and Mornopo mine design preparation. Cost of mine design reached Rp355 million, for infill drilling reached Rp348 million and for georadar research reached Rp11.68 million.
Antam continued exploration drilling in Southeast Sulawesi at Tapunopaka, Mandiodo and Bahubulu Island. At these locations, Antam conducted a total of 1,832.05 metres of drilling at a total cost of Rp1.61 billion. These activities conducted to support FeNi I, II and III at Pomalaa , which are near mine site.
Meanwhile, Antam conducted 2,418 meters of drilling and continued community development initiatives at Obi Island with a total cost of Rp777.20 million.
Total cost of nickel exploration reached Rp6 billion.
GOLD
Antam focused exploration activities in Mranggu, East Java, on geological data analysis in cooperation with the Bandung Institute of Technology. Sample analysis is intended to detect other potential mineralizations.
Activities at Kalamiseng, South Sulawesi were the evaluation and completion for report based on exploration activities, which finished in April 2005. Total cost occurred Rp78.71 million. Derived from potential mineralization, Antam decided not to explore further and stop applying for the KP license.
In Arsejulu, North Sumatra, Antam conducted evaluation for exploration activities, which already finished in May 2005. The cost amounted to Rp1.29 million.
Antam prepared for exploration activities at Seblat, Bengkulu. Meanwhile in Cisono and Cisemet Banten, total exploration cost occurred Rp1.38 million.
Antam conducted 398.7 metres of drilling at its Pongkor gold mine with a total cost of Rp165.50 million. Antam also conducted 275.45 meters of RC-11A technical geological drilling at Pongkor with a total cost of Rp71.22 million.
Meanwhile, gold exploration at Flores, East Nusa Tenggara and Cikotok Banten, also continued in cooperation with Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC). All costs occurred at JOGMEC expense.
The total cost of gold exploration including drilling and geological mapping activities at Pongkor reached Rp318 million.
BAUXITE
Antam continued bauxite exploration at Wacopek, Kijang which included 7 kilometers of grid measurements, 276.7 meters of test pitting, mineral sampling of 165 samples and the preparation of 173 samples. The total cost was Rp54.28 million.
Antam test pitting activities at Tayan used a 25m x 25m grid. Activities at Tayan included grid measurement of 3.6 kilometers, test pitting of 2,628 meters and preparation analysis of 665 samples. Total cost for Tayan bauxite exploration activities amounted to Rp163.21 million.
The total cost of bauxite exploration reached Rp217.49 million. (end of release)
