(February 03, 2005) PT. Antam Tbk is pleased to announce it has switched on three of six generators of its third diesel power plant, which is under construction. The three new generators were constructed and will be operated by Wartsila Corporation. With a combine capacity of 51 MW, the new generators are expected to improve power generation efficiency and consistency.

At a total cost of US $64 million the new third power plant shall power Antam?s entire Pomalaa ferronickel facility after the construction of a third smelter is complete in 2006.

The three new generators will replace those of Pomalaa?s first and second power plants, which will now go on standby and provide immediate improvement to the power consistency and load for Antam?s two existing smelters as well as auxiliary requirements. The new power plant is part of Antam?s over all cost reduction plan. In the future Antam may lower cost further, as the new power plant is designed to run on alternative fuels such as natural gas.

Antam has signed an 11 year operation and maintenance (O&M) agreement with Wartsila Corporation for the operation, predictive maintenance and spare parts for the new power plant.(End of release)
