FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL 2005
Jakarta, May 12th, 2005 ? PT Antam Tbk is pleased to lodge the April monthly exploration report in accordance with the Jakarta Stock Exchange listing rules. Antam continued exploration during April 2005 focusing activities on laterite nickel, gold, and bauxite. The total cost in April 2005 for exploration was Rp6.3 billion.
NICKEL
Nickel exploration was conducted in Buli-Halmahera, Southeast Sulawesi and Obi Island. Nickel exploration in Buli included 2,500 metres of infill drilling at Pakal and Sangaji with a total cost of Rp2.7 billion.
The locations for nickel exploration drilling in Southeast Sulawesi were Tapunopaka, Mandiodo and Bahubulu. In December, drilling of 4,366 metres occured with a total cost of Rp2.4 billion. These activities are intended to support the ferronickel smelter plants at nearby Pomalaa.
Antam also conducted infill drilling of 288 metres at Obi Island. Community development activities continued in the area. Antam spent Rp348 million for nickel exploration at Obi.
GOLD
Exploration activities at Mranggu-East Java mainly involved data analysis in cooperation with the Bandung Institute of Technology to confirm mineralization potential.
In Kalamiseng, Sulawesi, regional geological mapping activities covered an area of 35,215 hectares. Antam analysed 154 rock samples, utilized fluid inclusion analysis on 5 samples and X-Ray defection analysis on 7 samples. The total exploration cost amounted to Rp69 million.
Antam also conducted gold exploration activities at Arsejulu, North Sumatra with 16,500 hectares of regional geological mapping activities, rock sampling analysis on 15 samples and X-Ray defection analysis on 3 samples.
Drilling at the area surrounding the Pongkor gold mine reached 342 metres with a total cost of Rp188 million. Antam also conducted technical geological drilling of 378 metres with a total cost Rp320 million.
BAUXITE
Bauxite exploration was performed at Wacopek, Kijang, which included grid measurement of 12.7 kilometres, test pitting of 462 metres and analysis on 257 samples and preparation analysis on 264 samples. Total cost for bauxite exploration at Wacopek reached Rp95 million.
In Tayan-West Kalimantan, Antam conducted test pitting activities over a 25m x 25m grid. Antam also conducted grid measurement of 29 kilometres, test pitting of 817 metres, as well as analysis on 314 samples. In April 2005 total cost at Tayan reached Rp123.2 million. (end of release)
