Release: AWE: Lengo-1 drilling update

Excellent gas shows recorded

(18 March 2008)-- Australian Worldwide Exploration Limited (AWE) reports that the Lengo-1 well has reached a depth of 825 metres as of March 18, 2008. The current casing depth is 755 metres and excellent gas shows were recorded during the drilling of the section between 755 and 825 metres. The Joint Venture plans to drill ahead to the total measured depth and then evaluate the shows.

Lengo-1 is being drilled in the Bulu Production Sharing Contract (PSC) in the offshore Java Sea, approximately 150 km kilometres north west of Surabaya, East Java, in 60 metres water depth. The well has a planned total depth of approximately 995 metres.

Commenting on the shows, AWE?s managing director Bruce Wood said:
?While we are very encouraged by the gas shows in our second well in Indonesia, wireline or LWD logs are required to properly address them.?

Participants in the Bulu Production Sharing Contract are: AWE 42.5%, Aabar Petroleum Investments Company PJSC (Operator) 42.5%, PT Satria Energindo 10.0% and PT Satria Wijaya Kusuma 5.0%. (end of release)
