Release: Balikpapan Refinery selects UOP's catalyst for Unicracking Unit reload

DES PLAINES, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 4, 2003--Pertamina's Balikpapan Refinery, Indonesia, successfully reloaded its Unicracking(TM) unit with HC(TM) 215LT hydrocracking catalyst and DHC(TM) 8 hydrocracking catalyst following a refinery turnaround in May 2003. The Balikpapan Refinery selected the HC 215 catalyst and DHC 8 catalyst as part of its ongoing goal to maximize benefits from existing facilities and remain a major supplier of middle distillates to the Indonesian market.

The HC 215 catalyst and DHC 8 catalyst will enable the Balikpapan Refinery to maximize the production of high quality diesel fuel from the existing Unicracking unit while processing a heavy vacuum gasoil (HVGO) feed. The HC 215LT catalyst and DHC 8 catalyst have met or exceeded all performance expectations.

The Unicracking unit was designed by UOP and has been in operation since May 1984.
