Jakarta, April 29, 2004 -- BP has awarded two contracts worth a total of US$ 77 million to develop its APN gas field in Indonesia?s West Java Sea. The multi-national energy company has awarded a US$ 65 million engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Clough/PT Petrosea Joint Venture, and a US $12 million pipeline supply contract to PT Bakrie Pipe Industry.

The APN field development is located approximately 100 kilometres North-East of Jakarta off the coast of Java in water depths ranging from 15 to 45 metres. The project comprises the three monopod platforms linked by 28 kilometres of 24-inch diameter infield pipeline. The new facilities will be tied into an existing facility 50 kilometres away via a 24-inch diameter trunkline. Modifications to existing facilities will allow integration of gas into the system.

The development of the APN field, scheduled for completion in 2005, represents a significant investment by BP in West Java, underpinning the competitiveness of the ONWJ PSC (BP West Java). The development of the APN field will also strengthen BP?s commitment to meeting West Java?s energy needs. (end of release).
