Release: Bumi clarifies media reporting on alleged tax issue

(Jakarta, 13 December 2009)--Responding to media reporting in the last few days on the tax authority's allegation of the company's outstanding tax liability, PT Bumi Resources Tbk is awaiting further explanation while studying the facts on hand in order to be in line with the authority's understanding on the matter.

PT Bumi Resources, Tbk is studying the media stories regarding the allegations of 'evasion' implied in yesterday's media statements. This is a positive momentum to clarify the many hanging issues related to our entitled privileges as first generation mining contractor, including about our taxation issues.

It is and always has been Bumi's practice to follow procedure and comply with all Indonesian tax regulation and cooperate fully with Authorities as per law.
