Appeal for return to reason

The accusation that BUMI has paid monetary amount illegally to a third party with the objective of influencing the tax authority and to intervene the legal and judicial system is not founded on neither factual evidence nor past track records.
BUMI is truly a national company that is managed and run with international best practice of management, governance, and operations.
The company wishes to remind the general public and especially the company's primary stakeholders that the company until today has not been proven to be involved in any kind of illegal activity as alleged by various parties. The Company's management has remained focused on ensuring normal business operations believing wholeheartedly that the legal cases brought against the company will be decided with justice. On the legal case brought against the Company, the Supreme Court and the lower Tax Court have issued official ruling that BUMI's operation has been compliant and transparent until today. Unfortunately for BUMI and its stakeholders, instead of clearing out the long hanging doubts about BUMI's tax status and obligation, The Supreme Court ruling has been abused by some parties throwing further unfair accusations and controversy.
The background of the case is that the Tax Office filed a petition in the Supreme Court appealing against the Tax Court decision that invalidated the examination process of preliminary evidence against KPC, being the grounds for such investigation against KPC. As per taxation regulations, to date, KPC does not have any tax arrears.
In connection with media reporting on Gayus Tambunan, we assure you that such news story is untrue.
BUMI is a listed company and one of the companies of international scale in coal sector; it is highly impossible that it has conducted such practices.
On the Gayus issue, the company reserves the right to answer any and all summons and provide statements based on the law. BUMI as a highly reputable company and the holding company of KPC will take any step to help and support the investigators in performing their lawful duties.
It has been BUMI's official stance to adhere strictly to law and follow the overall judicial system. Maintaining normalcy in business operations and promoting common sense maximally we believeis the best way to prove that the accusations are baseless and that the accusers' motivations are ill-intentioned.
It is the Company's obligation to protect the interest of its shareholders, employees, and customers from such baseless accusations and endless controversies that have dominated the public domain for too long.
Therefore, the Company wishes to make a sincere and formal appeal to the public, the media, the law enforcers and the market at large to give suitable space for facts and allow common sense to prevail over baseless assumptions and irresponsible rumors detrimental to all our interests.
For the business and investment environment to remain conducive, there should be no space for free riding interest, statements and actions by any party like Gayus, which serves to only harm the interests of many. Should logic and fairness prevail and given rightful priority, the onus is obviously on the accusers' to prove their claims with facts, not for BUMI to defend itself against the motivated flurry of wild speculation and rumor.
Detailed reports on BUMI's activities, performance, contribution and financial situation for every year since 2001 are audited and published in the company's official website (www.bumiresources.com) for all members of the public to access anywhere and anytime.(end of release)
