Release: Emperor Mines: E.Java project continuing to deliver exciting gold-silver results
Friday, February 8 2008 - 02:06 AM WIB
Results are tabulated below and include the following significant intercepts:
GTD-07-018
31 - 176 metres;
Variuos 2 - 9m thick intercepts in alternating oxide and sulphide zones with up to 0.85g/t gold, 42 g/t silver and, in the sulphide zones, up to 0.51% Cu.
212 - 299m;
87m @ 0.39% copper in a sulphide zone
437 - 450.7m;
13.7m @ 0.37% Cu. The hole ended in 0.55% Cu over the bottom 5.7m in the sulphide zone
GTD-07-019
38 - 214m;
176m @ 0.6g/t gold and 14g/t silver (0.88g/t gold equivalent) Including 38 - 84m; 46m @ 0. 7g/t gold and 23g/t silver (1.16g/t gold equivalent)
GTD-07-020
0 - 242m;
242m @ 0.68g/t gold and 28g/t silver (1.24g/t gold equivalent)
Including 0- 138m @ 1.07g/t gold and 42g/t silver (1.91g/t gold equivalent)
Including 0 - 42m @ 1.73g/t gold and 44g/t silver (2.61g/t gold equivalent)
*s a guide, based on US$700/ozAu and US$13.50/ozAg, a ?gold equivalent? for Ag assays can be calculated by dividing the Ag g/t assay by 50. This assumes equivalent recoveries which is consistent with preliminary bottle roll tests undertaken by previous explorers from this prospect. Emperor is currently investigating undertaking further metallurgical tests which will provide more accurate Au and Ag recovery data.
As reported in previous announcements, diamond drilling commenced at Tumpangpitu on 20 September 2007 and to date 9 holes have been completed for 3191.55m. A tenth hole is nearing completion.
Three drill traverses have now been completed in this area and a fourth is in progress
The holes intersected oxidized silica-clay altered and brecciated rock in the upper portions, overlying similar brecciated and altered, but less oxidized rock, containing copper sulphide species.
This vertical zonation is consistent across all traverses completed to date, but the thickness of the oxide zone is variable and is thought to be related to topography and structural controls.
Emperor is encouraged by the ongoing receipt of positive results and the improved definition of a gold-silver oxide zone overlying a copper-gold-silver sulphide zone.
Detailed logging of drill holes is continuing and this will be supported by petrographic and mineralogical studies to further define the geological style of this mineralisation. Work to date confirms the concept of a potentially large ?High Sulphidation? breccia system overlying a porphyry copper system.
A second drilling rig has arrived on site at Tujuh Bukit and is expected to commence drilling in mid-February. This drilling rig will have greater depth capacity than the current rig and will drill holes targeted on deeper IP chargeability anomalies. These anomalies underlie IP resistivity anomalies that are coincident with the oxide Au-Ag intercepts drilled to date.
As the Indonesian Forestry Law restricts non forestry activities within protected forests and prohibits mining using an open pit method in protected forest areas, Emperor?s Alliance partner, PT Indo Multi Niaga (IMN), is working with relevant Indonesian authorities to review forest land status and, where relevant, is working through a prescribed process for potential reclassification of land from protected forest to a status that could allow open pit mining if the exploration activities support such a decision.
PT IMN and Emperor are also implementing local community development programmes and undertaking baseline environmental surveys. The Alliance partners are committed to responsible exploration and resource development programmes involving all stakeholders. (end of edited release)
