Australian listed mining company Herald Resources said yesterday a brief, 4 hole diamond drilling programme was completed at the Batu Besi Prospect in Bangka Belitung province in January-February 2001.
Herald holds 100 percent interest in the project.
A ground magnetic survey was also completed over the Batu Besi, Burung Mandi and Air Antu grids.
The drilling has provided further excellent tin results, especially in hole BBH16RD with 90m aggregate intersection with @ 1.10% Sn including 23m @ 1.77% Sn.
The results confirm the existence at the Batu Besi Hill Prospect of a main body of about 450m strike at up to 35m true width dipping sub-vertically, i.e. parallel to the granite contact, while magnetics suggest the possibility of repeat magnetite skarn bodies in the undrilled part of the hill.
Mineragraphic examination on deeper, unweathered core confirms the skarn nature of the mineralisation with a magnetite-chlorite-fluorite-garnet-sulphide composition and widely distributed cassiterite (tin oxide - SnO2). (*)
