Release: Gold and silver production underway for Apolo
Monday, April 12 2004 - 04:20 PM WIB
Mining is initially from a designated area measuring 250 ft by 150 ft by 50 ft that contains approximately 170,000 tonnes of ore, representing about two years of production. The area has already been cleared, the overburden removed, and is now fully prepared for mining. The ore in this area is very soft and therefore does not require drilling and blasting. It can be mined by an excavator, loaded onto a truck and delivered to the mill that is only 200 feet away.
Underground exploration was previously carried out by others on the KBU property in 1996 and 1997. Apolo has continued with further exploration and delineation of the mineralization over the past four months by way of additional trenching and sampling. Results in this area have averaged out at 5.8 grams gold per tonne and 78.2 grams silver per tonne.
Apolo is continuing with its program of exploration on its adjoining NUP property. An underground adit, designed to cross-cut several parallel vein structures, is approximately 50% completed.
The exploration is carried out under the direction of the Company geologist, Mr. Sonny Gerson. All samples are sealed and then delivered to Intertec Testing Services in Jakarta, Indonesia for analysis. Apolo personnel under the leadership of Mr. Peter Levasseur carried out refurbishing of the mill on the KBU property, which had not operated for 6 years.(end of release)
