Release : Herald Resources parent obtains shareholder approval to pledge shares in Herald

(West Perth, July 17, 2009)--Herald Resources Limited (?Herald?) note that PT Bumi Resources Tbk (?Bumi?), which holds approximately 84% of ordinary shares in Herald (?Shares?), received shareholder approval at its annual general meeting to pledge its Shares for current and future borrowings.

The shareholder approval obtained also permits Bumi to pledge other assets it owns, including coal mines operated by its subsidiaries PT Kaltim Prima Coal and PT Arutmin Indonesia.

It is not currently known whether, and in what circumstances, Bumi will pledge any of its Shares to secure its current and future borrowings. (end of release)
