JAKARTA, 5 April 2011 ? The Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) will hold its 35th IPA Convention and Exhibition on 18-20 May 2011 at the Jakarta Convention Center, carrying the theme ?Indonesia Energy: Growth, Security and Sustainability.?

?The theme is very relevant to Indonesia today: its remarkable economic growth, maturity of its producing oil fields, the focus of exploration on the abundant-but-unproven reserves at the frontier areas and the increasing efforts to unlock its unconventional gas,? said IPA President Ron Aston.

A major producer of hydrocarbons for many years, Indonesia still has significant untapped potential reserves of oil & gas. According to 2010 data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indonesia has proven and potential crude oil reserves of 7.8 trillion barrels (combined). Meanwhile, proven and potential gas reserves stood at 157.1 trillion cubic feet (combined). The country?s emerging economy generates escalating domestic demand on energy whilst at the same time Indonesia needs to continue leveraging oil & gas exports as a source of export revenue.

?The upcoming 35th IPA Convention and Exhibition is aimed at collaborating with the government to formulate the best solutions needed to resolve these challenges,? Aston said.

The IPA annual Convention and Exhibition is the most anticipated event in Indonesia?s oil & gas industry. Domestic and multinational companies will have chances to identify and participate in oil & gas business opportunities in Indonesia. The event will be a platform for business networking, exchange of market intelligence and knowledge in the industry as well as showcasing the latest technology available to the industry.

For over 30 years, the event has brought together senior government officials, lawmakers, industry leaders, analysts and practitioners for a forum of transparent dialogue, information exchange and knowledge sharing, to support the government to foster favorable investment conditions in the oil & gas industry,? Aston added.

The IPA is an open forum for all related stakeholders in the oil & gas industry to exchange knowledge and ideas as well as to have a dialogue on the current issues the industry is facing, and how to address the challenges. Moreover, IPA also fosters education and knowledge transfer within the industry and community.

The 35th IPA Convention and Exhibition will be the largest in its 34 years history and will feature more than 150 companies exhibiting in almost 4,000 square meters showcasing the latest technology and innovations in the oil and gas industry. In addition, the IPA event will include a new feature called the Energy Edutainment Corner, an edutainment facility for visitors, including high school and college students, to better understand the journey of Indonesia?s oil and gas industry.
