Release: Newmont Nusa Tenggara mine gets Green PROPER rating

?This is the second time we earn Green PROPER rating. This achievement clearly demonstrates how Newmont Nusa Tenggara truly meets its commitments to sound environmental stewardship and social responsibility. We are encouraged by this result and will pursue the opportunities to improve our operation? said Phil Brumit, General Manager Operations, PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PT NNT).
Under the program, there are five ratings namely Gold, Green, Blue, Red and Black. The Green rating means an organization has implemented pollution control measures to protect the environment, and that the performance is better than the requirements set forth in prevailing regulations. In the pervious rating period, PTNNT had achieved a blue rating that indicates that the operation met all of the Indonesian environmental regulations and permits.
The program evaluates PT NNT?s environmental management and community development programs. These include evaluating reports on environmental management and monitoring programs, and field verification and evaluation. They also checked our community development programs and meet with local communities.
PT NNT is committed to continuous improvements in all aspects of its operation including the environment and social responsibility. The PROPER rating program provides another avenue for PT NNT to evaluate its performance and make further improvements.
