Release: NNT reports fatality at Batu Hijau mine

(15 March 2011)--PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT) has reported a tragic accident at Batu Hijau mine in West Sumbawa, Indonesia on Tuesday, March 15, 2011.
?It is my sad task to advise you that today at approximately 9:30 AM, as a result of an industrial accident, Pak Irawan, a valued member of our PTNNT family, has died from injuries sustained in the accident,? said David Lilley, General Manager of Operations of PTNNT.
Pak Irawan is survived by his wife Hadiatullah and daughter Khadiratunnisa.
?At this time, our prayers and sympathy are with the family, friends and colleagues of Pak Irawan and we are doing everything we can to support them through this difficult and tragic time,? said David Lilley.
Government mine regulators and local police were notified about the accident and the investigation process has commenced. (end of release)
