Release: Oropa: Sambung exploration update

Monday, September 18 2006 - 01:13 AM WIB

( Sept 18, 2006) - Oropa is pleased to announce further encouraging drill results from its exploration activities at Sambung. Gold mineralisation in drilling was encountered in jasperoid developed on the contact between older limestone and younger sediments. Jasperoid hydrothermal breccias were also noted, often in association with higher tenor gold mineralisation.

Sambung drilling continues to intersect significant gold mineralisalion:
? SAMDD037: 5m @3.27 g/t Au from 5m
? SAMDD042: 34m @1.61 g/t Au from 0m (including 11m @2.70 g/t Au from 22m)
? SAMDD047: 7m @ 3.74 g/t Au from 19m
? SAMDD048: 14m @ 3.12 g/t Au from 0m and 22m @2.42 g/t Au from 64m
? SAMDD049: 15m @3.43 g/t Au from 1m

These last 16 drill holes we designed to locate the lateral edges of the Sambung central zone mineralisation and to infill earlier broadly spaced drill holes. Oropa aims to complete this phase of drilling at Sambung on 50m spaced drill sections.

This calendar year, Oropa has completed 44 diamond drill holes for 3205m at Sambung, testing gold mineralisation identified in rock chip sampling, trenching and earlier scout drilling. Drilling will continue with the aim of defining an JORC compliant Resource in the near future

To date, less than half of the known gold-mineralised jasperoid at Sambung has been drill tested. Reconnaissance mapping and sampling has also indentified gold-mineralised jasperoid some 2km southeast of the area currently being drilled.

Sambung is located in the North Block of the Company?s 75% owned North Sumatran Pungkut Project.(end of release)
