RELEASE: PT Inco operations proceed as normal as Inco acts on security advisories

TORONTO, May 24 - Inco Limited and its 61 percent owned subsidiary, PT International Nickel Indonesia Tbk ("PT Inco"), have evaluated advisories issued by the Canadian and Australian governments regarding the security situation in the province of South Sulawesi, Indonesia where PT Inco's operations are located.

Inco and PT Inco are keeping in close contact with Canadian and Indonesian government officials and have taken appropriate actions to protect personnel, which have included moving people from PT Inco's operations in Sorowako to other locations.

"The safety of our employees is our top priority in these types of situations," said Inco Chairman and CEO Scott Hand. "We will continuously monitor the situation with the assistance of the Indonesian and Canadian governments."

PT Inco's operations are proceeding as normal and the company does not currently expect that this situation will disrupt PT Inco's operations. (end of release)
