Release: Regional LNG: LNG remains essential to America's energy needs
Friday, January 23 2004 - 06:18 PM WIB
LNG imports have rapidly increased over the last few years in light of surging demand and tight domestic supplies. As gas demand continues to surpass productive capacity, LNG can play an important role in significantly lowering costs and meeting the needs of U.S. energy consumers.
ILNGA believes that it would be unwise to make any judgments until a thorough investigation yields more information. "We simply don't have all of the facts right now," ILNGA Executive Director David Sweet cautioned. Sonatrach has promised a full investigation.
U.S. land-based LNG facilities have a commendable safety record and LNG has been used as a safe, clean, and reliable energy source for decades.
The International LNG Alliance (ILNGA) extends its sympathies and condolences to the victims, their families, and the entire nation of Algeria.
The International LNG Alliance (ILNGA) represents companies involved in all facets of the LNG industry. ILNGA members provide a majority of the LNG used in North America. ILNGA works to promote and advance the safe, reliable, cost effective and environmentally sound use of liquefied natural gas and development of LNG infrastructure. (end of release)
