Release: Talisman Energy awarded offshore Indonesian exploration blocks
Wednesday, May 19 2010 - 03:56 PM WIB
The new licence blocks were offered as part of Indonesia?s Second 2009 Bidding Round and were each awarded to a consortium comprised of Talisman and its partner PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited. In addition to other interests in the Makassar Strait, Talisman now holds an operated 70% interest in the South Sageri PSC, an operated 60% interest in the Sadang PSC, and a non-operated 33% interest in the South Mandar PSC. The consortiums have committed to drill one well on the South Sageri PSC and to conduct 3D seismic on all blocks within three years.
?These new PSCs are an excellent fit with our strategy to position Talisman?s international exploration portfolio for continual renewal. The acreage surrounds our operated Sageri PSC, and provides us with a wealth of highly prospective exploration opportunities, now covering the vast majority of the South Makassar Basin.? said Ron Aston, Vice President and General Manager of Talisman in Indonesia. ?I am delighted that we have been able to accumulate a dominant basin-wide acreage position in this largely unexplored region of Indonesia.?
