Release: Total E&P won the SW Bird?s head block

(May 20, 2011)--Government of Indonesia on Friday, 20 May 2011, announced that TOTAL E&P will be awarded the South West Bird's Head Block under the Second Phase 2010 Regular Tender.

This exploration block is located in the on-offshore Salawati Basin of the Province of West Papua, covering an area 7,176 sqKm. TOTAL plans to run seismic and to drill one well. TOTAL?s participating is 100% interest.

President Director of TOTAL E&P Indonesie, Elisabeth Proust said, ?We appreciate the announcement that our company is selected as the winner of this block. This demonstrates trust of our commitment to further invest in exploration, in new areas in Indonesia; in line to the Government Indonesia?s efforts to tap potential hydrocarbon reserves in the eastern part of Indonesia."
