Release: Update on takeover offer from Medco

(Novus Petroleum Limited, Release to The australian Stock Exchange, January 15, 2004)Novus Petroleum Limited ("Novus") refers to press coverage this morning in relation to the unsolicited off-market takeover bid by PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk ("Medco").
Novus confirms that it has been approached by various parties which have expressed interest in submitting an alternative offer for Novus. Discussions with these parties are at varying, but preliminary, stages.
An Information Memorandum containing background information on Novus and its operations has been prepared for review by interested parties subject to them signing an appropriate confidentiality agreement.
Further information will be released to the ASX as it becomes available.
Novus confirms that it will despatch its Target's Statement responding to Medco's bid no later than Friday, 23 January 2004.(end of release)
