Reliance, CDC enter into partnership in power sector

India-based private sector power generation company, Reliance Power Limited and China Datang Corporation (CDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to form a strategic partnership for development and operation of power and energy projects including in Indonesia.

CDC is China state-owned power generation enterprise.

The partnership would cover the development of Reliance?s three coal mines in South Sumatra having 2 billion tons of resources, development of transportation infrastructure and off take of coal from Indonesia mines.

?This is an important milestone in our progress toward becoming India?s largest private sector integrated power and resources company,? Reliance said in the statement.

CDC said that "strategic partnership with Reliance provides us a platform to expand our footprints in emerging markets in India and Indonesia, which hold enormous business opportunities for us."
