Reliance short-lists coal suppliers candidates

Indian Reliance Energy firmed up its coal supply strategy for its future power plants. The company has planned out a broad plan, including purchase of some mid-sized coal companies, reports Economic Times.
Apart from purchase of some mid-sized coal companies, the plan also includes assured supply contracts and part equity in some of the coal producing companies. The company predicts a requirement of about 25 to 30 million tons of coal from 2010 and has shortlisted eight companies in Indonesia for this plan.
The acquisition targets include EnerCorp and Berau Coal, the report said.
The company is eyeing an assured supply offtake with PT Adaro, the other shortlisted companies include PT Tekno Orbit Persada, PT TransPacific, PT Barasentosa, PT Batudara and PT Indoprivate coal.(*)
