Renegotiations on 18 of the 25 independent power projects (IPPs) which have been stalled since 2008 have been completed, according to a senior executive of state electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).

Murtaqi Syamsuddin, the company?s director for business and risk management said in Jakarta on Monday that the renegotiations on the other remaining 7 projects were still underway.

?We hope the renegotiations on the other 7 IPP projects could be completed as soon as possible,? he was quoted as saying by Kontan business daily on Wednesday.

Murtaqi said that the 2 x 10 megawatt-Tanjung Pinang power plant, one of the 18 independent power producer (IPP) projects had even been verified by the government?s audit agency BPKP.

?16 of them are being verified by BPKP, while the other one Bangka power plant had been terminated because the construction cost was too high,? he said. (*)
