Renewable energy investments reach 87.4%

The realization of investments for new and renewable energy sources until the third quarter of this year (2016) had reached 87.4 percent of the target set at US$1.37 billion.

?The renewable energy investments had amounted to US$1.198 billion, or 87.4 percent of the target. Not bad. But we?re not yet satisfied. It should be more,? New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Director General Rida Mulyana said in a press release issued in Jakarta on Thursday.

He said that the investments include the investments for development of geothermal at the value of US$0.84 billion or 86 percent of the target set at $0.96 billion, and then investments of various sources of new and renewable energy at US$0.060 billion or 60 percent of the target set at US$0.1 billion. ?Investments in bio-energy already reached US$0.298 billion or 94.7 percent of the target set at US$0.31 billion,? said Rida.

He added that the developments of the solar power plants (PLTS) and micro-hydro power plants (PLTM/H) with the use of state budget were still proceeding. ?All of the PLTS projects have a total capacity of 6.61 megawatt (MW), while the PLTM/PLTMH at 2.84 MW," he said.

According to him, the development of geothermal in 2016 already reached 1,513.5 MW or 92 percent of the target at 1,657.5 MW. "Until the third quarter, we got additional capacity of 55 MW from Ulubelu Unit-3, then Lahendong Unit-5 at 30 MW. Later this month we expect to get additional capacity from the operation of Lahendong Unit-6 with a capacity of 20 MW and Sarulla at 110 MW," he said.

Rida said that overall in the sector of new and renewable energy and energy conservation until the third quarter, the investments already realized 80 percent of the target. ?The target is Rp 630 billion, while its realization is already Rp 504.58 billion,? he said.
