Renewable energy to account for 25% of 35,000 MW power plant projects

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said stated that renewable energy sources will account for about 25 percent (or 8,800 MW) of the government?s target to develop a total 35,000 MW power plant projects until 2019.

Sudirman said Thursday that to date, of the 35,000 MW target, 17,300 MW including power plants fueled by renewable energy sources are already under construction.

He said that the government is committed to push for the development of new and renewable energy sources by introducing new regulation such as a mandatory 20 percent biodiesel mix this year, and preparing National Energy General Plan, which envisages to develop 46 GW of renewable energy by 2025.
