Renuka?s JPC to boost coal output to 5 mtpa

IDX-listed PT Renuka Coalindo Tbk said that its coal mining subsidiary PT Jambi Prima Coal (JPC) will boost production to 5 million tons per annum (mtpa) starting next year.

Renuka, which owns 99.99 percent stake in JPC, which operates coal concession in Sarolangun Regeny, Jambi Province, said in a statement Friday the company was in talks with customers at home and in India to help ensure market for the planned higher output volume.

The statement did not say the company?s current production level. But this portal reported earlier that output last year was 550,000 tons, which is expected to increase to 600,000 tons.

Renuka said that to support the surge in coal production, the company would develop the necessary logistic facilities including new jetty, hauling road, barges, and others.

The company said that according to the Joint Ore Reserves Committee, coal reserves at the JPC concession is estimated 92.6 million tons while resources at 120.4 million tons. Renuka said that at the reserves and resources level, JPC can run production rate of 5 million tons per year until 2018.
