Repair works at Tangguh Train II set for completion next month

The Train II facility of the Tangguh LNG plant in West Papua, which stopped operation following a fire incident late in October, is targeted to resume operation sometimes in December, according to the SKSP Migas ? the executive body that temporarily replaces now-defunct BPMIGAS.

The repair works are still underway and once completed, the distribution of production will be carried out in phases up until it reaches full-capacity, said Head of PR, Security and Formality Division Hadi Prasetyo.

?The Train II repair works are being carried out as quickly as we can. We estimate to complete it by December,? Hadi told petromindo.com on Monday. He did not elaborate.

Operated by BP Indonesia, the Tangguh LNG plant in the Bintuni Bay area of West Papua province has two trains which both have a total capacity of 3.8 million tons per year.

Since 2009, its gas production has been committed under long term contracts for exports to China, South Korea and the United States.
