Repsol SA hopes to complete a 3D seismic survey at the Andaman III block in Aceh Province at the end of November this year, according to a company senior official.

The official told Petromindo.com on Monday that the 3D seismic survey, covering almost 3,200 sq km, started on July 28.

He added that Repsol plans to start exploration drilling at the block in the third quarter of 2019.

In August, IDX-listed upstream services company PT Elnusa Tbk said its subsidiary PT Elnusa Trans Samudra obtained a contract from Repsol to carry out 3D seismic survey at the offshore Andaman III block.

The Andaman III block covers an area of 8,517 km2 in the water depth of 1,000-1,400 meters. Talisman Energy was awarded the production sharing contract for the Andaman III block in 2009. Repsol acquired Talisman late in 2014.
