Repsol to name Sakakemang EPC contractor by year-end

Repsol Sakakemang B.V. (Repsol), a unit of Spanish oil, gas firm Repsol S.A has announced a key milestone in the development of its Sakakemang project in South Sumatera. On June 13, 2025, Repsol issued a letter of invitation to qualified bidders, initiating the tender process for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services for the project. Following this, the Instruction to Bid package was distributed to confirmed bidders on June 18, 2025.

The EPC tender process is a vital component of the Sakakemang development, with results expected to be finalized by the fourth quarter of 2025. This phase is critical to meeting the project’s goal of achieving first gas production by the first quarter of 2028, the company said in a statement.

Repsol is the operator of Sakakemang block, which is expected to produce 80 MMCFD of gas for 8 years along with the CCS project. Repsol has 45 percent interest in the block.
