Reshuffle at Bukit Asam creates tension: Union chief

Monday, November 26 2001 - 04:09 AM WIB

The reshuffle at the state-owned coal mining firm PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam has disturbed employees because out of the five new directors, only one came from within the company.

Bukit Asam labor union chief Suharisman was quoted by the Neraca daily as saying that three of the new directors came from the West Sumatra-based state-owned cement maker PT Semen Padang.

He said that only AC Purba, which has been appointed as technical director comes from within the company. He said that his kind of a reshuffle was not healthy.

Suharisman said that the government had appointed five new directors for Bukit Asam on Friday as part of a major reshuffle. It is still not clear whether company president had also been replaced. No names yet on the other four new directors.(*)
