Residents lifted blockade on the main road leading to Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC)?s Pit A area in Bangalon district in East Kalimantan after KPC said it is still committed to allocating US$1 million in budget for community development program, Tribun Kaltim reported Friday

External Relation Manager Hasrul Sani said that KPC was still committed to providing corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds for this year but the funds would be channeled through programs rather than in cash.

Due to the blockade that lasted from Tuesday through Wednesday, KPC was unable to transport its coal from its mine sites to the Lubuk Tutung port.

Hartono Kadrie, the chairman of NGO Forum Masyarakat Bengalon (Bengalon Community Forum), that organized the blockade, said that the residents took the action because the company had showed no serious commitment to accommodating their demand. (*)
