IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Resource Alam Indonesia Tbk has started exporting coal to Cambodia as it seeks to expand market in Southeast Asia region.
Resource Alam President Director Pintarso Adijanto said recently that the company will continue to focus on export market despite massive development of coal-fired power plants at home as it produces coal mostly with calorific value of 5,000 kcal/kg, which is more suitable for export.
Pintarso said that the company this year will export around 300,000-400,000 tons of coal to Cambodia. ?Cambodia is our new market. Hopefully, (the company) will get more new markets in Southeast Asia,? he said.
He added the company will continue expand its export market. The company, which exports about 95 percent of its output, has been seeking new markets such as Japan and Spain since last year. Key export markets currently include China, India, Japan and South Korea.
Resource Alam President Director Pintarso Adijanto said that this year the company plans to increase coal sales volume to 3.5 million-4 million tons from 3.2 million tons last year amid improving coal price outlook. The company plans to start production at its Loa Haur mine in Central Kalimantan, hopefully in September or October with initial output target of about 1 million tons, Pintaro said previously, adding that the company is currently in the process of acquiring the required permit.
