Resource drilling program completed at Tembang project: Sumatra Copper

Sumatra Copper & Gold plc reported Friday that it has completed the 13,468 metre resource drill program at its Tembang Gold and Silver Project in central Sumatra with all remaining assay results received.

The program successfully outlined further depth potential to high grade shoots at Berenai and refined the grade distribution at Belinau.

The company is pleased to report its best ever intersection with hole RDD11126 intersecting 17.3 metres @ 9.73g/t Au, 11.0g/t Ag from 146 metres downhole including 10.4 metres @ 15.87g/t Au, 14.1g/t Ag. This highly significant intersection on the southern shoot of the Berenai/Nuri vein system extends the shoot approximately 50 metres below the limit of the Snowden resource. This result indicates a potential south westerly plunge to this shoot and is open at depth.

Further drilling on the northern shoot has also returned excellent results with hole ROD 11127 intersecting 4.2 metres @ 13.48g/t Au, 65.2g/t Ag from 227.2 to 231.4 metres and RDD 11125 intersecting 5.4 metres @ 5.6g/t Au and 225.0g/t Ag from 225.3 to 230.7 metres . This zone is also open at depth.

At Belinau another significant intercept was returned in hole RDD 11123 which intersected 2.9 metres @ 9.61g/t Au and 9.lg/t Ag from 208.0 to 210.9 metres. This refines and extends the southern shoot to the south west.

A hanging wall vein was also intersected in RDD 11131 from 120.3 to 123.3 metres which returned 3.0 metres @ 13.15g/t Au and 13.8g/t Ag. This attests to the prospectivity of this productive vein system and will add to the upcoming resource.

An updated resource statement is being finalised and will be published in March 2011. The resource will enable the pre-feasibility processes (announced on 24 February 2011) to be completed and the scope of the project finalised for the definitive feasibility, which is scheduled to commence in the second half of 2011. A 5,000 metre in-fill drilling program utilising two rigs is under way and a final resource statement will be issued by an independent expert on its completion.

Sumatra?s Managing Director, Jocelyn Wailer said the results from the resource drilling program at Tembang gave significant support to the Company?s decision to advance the Project into production.

?Yet again we have some excellent drilling results to report, with the resource drilling program at Tembang very successfully adding good quality ounces to the existing resource and confirming high grade shoots still open at depth. We believe the new resource, which is due soon, will underpin the mine development we are now embarking upon,? said Wailer. (kanti)
