Despite the lingering weak coal market, IDX-listed PT Resources Alam Indonesia Tbk said it plans to increase coal production this year by 31.25 percent to 4.2 million tons compared to realized output of 3.2 million tons last year.

Kontan quoted Resources Alam Commissioner Suria Martara Tjahaja as saying Saturday that the company?s markets include China, South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, India and Malaysia.

While the company could not yet disclose revenue target for this year, as last year?s has yet to be audited, Suria said that the revenue is expected to be higher this year.

The company?s coal production this year will come from its subsidiary PT Insani Bara Perkasa, which operates mines in East Kalimantan, producing coal with CV of 4,500-5,000 kcal/kg.

The two other subsidiaries PT Loa Haur (with coal mines in Central Kalimantan), and PT Kaltim Mineral (in East Kalimantan) their operations remain suspended. Suria said it is still unclear when the two subsidiaries will resume operation due to the lingering weak coal market situation. (*)
