Indonesia?s annual coal production is predicted to increase by an average of 7.5 percent from 2017 to 2020, according to the latest report by BMI Research, a unit of Fitch Group.
The report made available to Petromindo.com said that that the increase in coal output would be used to feed the government?s plan to boost electricity capacity.
?This will ensure the country increases its global market share from 4.2 percent in 2016 to 5.4 percent by 2020. Indonesia?s additional output over the years will be used to feed the strong demand from a domestic pipeline of coal fired power plants,? BMI report said.
The government is on the pipeline to develop 35 GW of electricity until 2019 of which about half would be generated by coal-fired power plant.
