RI firms plan oil refinery project in Nigeria

Two Indonesian companies have expressed interest to develop an oil refinery in Nigeria with a capacity of 10,000 bpd, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The statement said that PT Intim Perkasa through subsidiary PT Intim Perkasa Nigeria Ltd will partner with IDX-listed engineering and construction firm PT PP Tbk in the proposed modular refinery project.

Adi Hartadi, Head of Investor Relations at PT PP, disclosed the plan during a business meeting in Abuja with NNPC Group Managing Director, Maikanti Baru, the statement said, adding that the proposed refinery will be located in Akwa Ibom State. No further details about the planned project were provided.

The Nigerian government has launched fast-track program to boost the capacity of the country?s existing three refineries by inviting investors from overseas in a bid to meet growing demand for petroleum products.
